Voter rolls show 15,192 more names than last presidential election with 3,87 more men and 11,705 new women. Largest female totals in the 1st precinct of the 5th District and the 9th District precincts. men concentrate in the 12th District precincts. District and precinct tallies list numerous counts for both genders.
Don C. Seitz of the New York World outlined the League of Nations to a Sherman hall audience while Countess Turczynowics recalled wartime Poland and Red Cross work. Lynn W. Wilson warned of a future war as larger and urged delaying actions to prevent conflict. The discussion framed Republican women’s views on Cox and the League, noting the need for timely action to avert another war.
In city court Joseph Borowsky a coal peddler on Berkshire Avenue was arraigned on short weight charges after delivering 1443 pounds to Mrs Roddi of 1414 East Main Street instead of 2000 pounds. Dennis Kelly sealer of weights and measures backed the action. Judge Bartlett fined Borowsky $100.
Arthur Soderholm, 417 Barnum Avenue, was arrested by Sergeant Meyers of the Third Precinct for peddling booze to customers at a coffee house at 397 Hancock Avenue owned by Joseph Kearney. He allegedly carried his own saloon on the hip selling shots for 50 cents. General Pershing to rest in Roslyn cottage for two months before a South America trip.
John Vaschila an ex A B F veteran formerly of 291 South avenue was found in a raving condition at his rooming house after a missing from work report from Bridgeport Model and Pattern Company October 14. He suffered shell shock and mental strain after overseas service with the 41st Coast Artillery. Police search located him and a sister is believed to be in the area. He was discharged December 1918 and had returned home for vocational training. Miss Albina Montana resigns as nurse at Emergency hospital clinic to be replaced by Miss Lila Bray both former Army Nurse Corps members.

Italian Democratic Clubs present at Center Street with prominent speakers. Plant tours and speakers listed from Warner Bros. to American Graphophone Company with regional figures.

Meriden Connecticut October 27 six persons were painfully though not seriously hurt when a trolley car ran wild down City Hall hill and crashed into a second car at the east Main street turnout. The impact sent a third car into the turnout. the cars carried factory workers and were jolted severely.
Secretary of State Colby will meet a Friends of Irish Freedom delegation at 8 pm to discuss U S recognition of the Irish Republic. The event takes place in Washington and signals a push for formal recognition.

The Romanian government authorizes use of bombs and gas to quell railway strike unrest.
The Connecticut Company plans rerouting and changes on city lines soon with one man cars on several routes. East Main to Ash Creek, Stratford to Paradise Green, and Norwalk Westport cars revised. East End barns possibly closing. new ten cent fares to take effect after midnight Sunday and on other cars Monday morning.
Captain Frederick Hawks of the three masted schooner Frederick H. files a claim against Bridgeport for $600 to cover repairs and demurrage after a bridge lift failed to rise, snagging the rigging as tug Robert McAllister towed out of Yellow Mill Creek. Officials cite pilot error and lift height. witnesses say bridge rose after the incident.
In Stamford Connecticut on October 27 whiskey valued at $4000 was stolen from automobiles in broad daylight and the vehicles were ransacked. Police seized the liquor stored at headquarters where $75,000 worth of whiskey and alcohol are kept. Suspects include Jacob W Shaw of Providence with wife, Leo Abercomn of Newark, and Patrick Parrell of Newark.
The Democrats of Milford plan a major rally at Milford Town Hall tomorrow night with speakers including Rollin A. Tyler for governor Major William H. Terence Mac Swiney weighed 75 pounds at death in Brixton jail after a 74 day hunger strike begun August 12. A coroner's jury in Brixton ruled the Cork lord mayor died of heart failure. Cork quieted, with a mourning notice posted and a Belfast riot at St Mathews chapel prompting armored car troops.
President Wilson told pro League Republicans at the White House that Americanism is spurious and used for party aims. He urged completing the moral work of the war and warned that peace must be made so dangerous to break that no nation dares attack it.
The New Field Development Co of Bridgeport filed suit in Common Pleas against Piggly Wiggly Stores Inc seeking an injunction to prevent removal of a furnace at 1465 Main Street and $1,000 in damages alleging the defendant threatened to remove the heating plant from a store.
Five and a half year old Julius Engelson of 982 Maplewood Avenue died last night after swallowing a small stone while playing in the yard Monday afternoon. Death attributed to asphyxiation by Dr. Fitzgerald. Coroner John J. Phelan handling the case.
