Only six working days remain for women to be registered before the November election. The Board of Registration says they can process about 1,500 per day, totaling around 10,000 if steady. About 20,000 old names exist on the lists, with 1,371 registered yesterday and a small turnout today, many from a Republican rally, leaving an estimated 17,000 still to be registered by closing time.
Police issue a citywide warning against fall bonfires on streets amid cleanup. Officers told to alert violators. Headquarters urge patrols to watch for a tall man in a brown suit with a torn seat, cap or hat, carrying a black bag and flashlight, posing as a Gas Co collector robbing quarter meters.

In Cork Oct 12 a military lorry attack in Mallow district killed the driver and wounded three soldiers. about 150 assailants armed with machine guns rifles and bombs engaged troops in a long range fight with no further reported casualties.
In South Norwalk on October 12 Samuel J. Watkins and Harvey M. Kest were nominated by the Republican party for representatives, while Attorney J. J. Linxweiler and Frank J. Clark were nominated by the Democratic party. Watkins was renominated and currently serves in the legislature.

Stratford, Bridgeport and State police struggle to locate Joseph Esposito of Waterbury, accused of murdering his ex wife Mary Susco in Stratford. Three days pass since the shooting, with authorities abandoning the body found in the Housatonic and pressing every effort to locate the fugitive.

Philadelphia Oct 12 Investigat ion of the latest confession of August Pasquale the crank in which he is alleged to have told Major Lynn G Adams head of the state police that he accidentally smothered Blakely Coughlin while stealing the baby from the home of its parents in Norristown last June was continued today. Pasquale said that when he lifted the child from its crib it cried and he placed it under his coat which he buttoned tightly. After escape he unbuttoned the coat and found the child dead.
Tony Pizsanio, 78, of East Main street, employed by FT Lee Company, is hospitalized at St. Vincent's after breaking his shoulder blade when he fell from a State Street truck driven by Jon Forbes of the same company this morning.
