Young case continued in $300 bonds for Fairfield saloon
Thomas Younes proprietor of a Fairfield avenue saloon was arrested yesterday on liquor law violation charges. He was arraigned in City court today and the case continued until Saturday under 300 dollar bonds. Bar tender William Hireman of Seaview avenue was arrested in the raid Saturday night and appeared in City court yesterday morning as prosecutors urged immediate arrest of Youngs. Judge William B. Boardman ordered the warrant.

Application For Beer Permit Is Withdrawn
Arthur Wren of Connecticut Breweries Co met with Federal Prohibition Director Harry Mackenzie at Allyn House to discuss a federal permit to manufacture beer for medicinal use. The permit was withdrawn after Mackenzie said tests showed alcohol content above allowed limits, citing Prohibition Commissioner Haynes ruling that no permits be issued to violators of the Volstead Act. The Connecticut Breweries plants and Eckart Brothers and Home Brewing Co in Bridgeport were closed August 19, 1920, by William M. McCarthy. Beers seized showed 1 S per cent alcohol. Two days later James J. Walsh seized all three breweries in a tax suit. A settlement followed.
