Shooting near Madison avenue and Beers street investigated

Owen Groark reported a man with a bullet wound under the right arm and described the stabbing as not serious. Investigators probe the shooting of Fred Montambo, a former Waterbury wrestler, living at 1461 Main Street, alleged to have occurred Saturday night at the Madison avenue Beers street corner. Montambo walked along Madison avenue when a car with armor plate and reckless driving spurred a shot as many cars passed. He received treatment at Emergency hospital on Sunday afternoon. Public interest shows enthusiasm for costly improvements despite tax concerns.
