The Connecticut Company Bridgeport Division lost over 1 million dollars in 1920 due to unregulated jitney competition, with an additional 17 818 lost in the first four months of the current year. Public Utilities Commission hearings at City Hall explored the drag on traction profits and the minimum cost to restore normal standing estimated at 45 thousand dollars. Thomas McGreevy testified that Bridgeport's revenue exceeded expenses in 1916 and 1917, but reversed in 1918 and 1920 with substantial losses, excluding depreciation and a fair return on stockholder investment. The division’s value was cited at 14.1 million in 1918 prices, down from 5.00 in 1910. The testimony continued under cross examination.
