Union of American Hebrew Congregations launches farm area building program
An extended project with a half million dollar expenditure aims to place synagogues and schools in outlying farming districts. The Union plans to serve 6,000 Jewish farming families and 12,000 children, creating training schools and religious facilities to replace the limited reach of traveling rabbis and the existing correspondence program. A corps of 3,000 teachers and rabbis will populate completed communities to begin work at once.
