Murderer FIs Given 15 Years For Fairfield Killing

Frank Leneve was sentenced to 14 to 15 years in state prison for murder in the first part of September in Fairfield. He pleaded to a reduced charge of manslaughter after being indicted for murder. Jallo, the victim, was said to have been drunk and causing a disturbance at a saloon. a fight led to Jallo’s death as Leneve arrived. Embargo on arms to Mexico still in effect

Shapiro Gains High Honor With U S Public Health Post

Louis Leonard Shapiro, Bridgeport native, has been appointed bacteriologist in the Office of the Surgeon General in Washington. Educated at local schools and Yale, he aided wartime public health work in France, led Red Cross efforts in Albania, and later served in the American Expeditionary University. He married in Paris last August. the couple will reside in Washington.
