About 160 brake men and switchmen in Bridgeport yards quit for eight hours for higher wages and an eight hour day. The strike tied up freight as engineers and firemen also walked out except for passenger service duty. A new local union forms here and plans affiliate with New York unions.
Tattle Rock Arkansas April 20 the death list from a series of tornadoes rose to 22 while a large strip of country remained unheard from. More than 100 injured and extensive property damage reported as crews sought to confirm a rumor of 20 deaths near Biniie in Logan County.
Formal written demands to guarantee a living wage for railroad workers and restoration of strikers with no loss of seniority were filed with the railroad labor board in New York by Edward McHingh and James Eubanks. Athens Veigorakas, formerly of the city, was arrested as he left a New York train and is held on 1000 bond for stealing 900 dollars from Michael Strompakas. He allegedly obtained 1000 dollars for safekeeping, deposited it in the New Haven post office, received two checks, and later hid the cash before returning a portion and fleeing to New York. Trial set for tomorrow in city court. Brown testimony in suit against Fairfield Selectman Charles S. Fox, alleging assault in Brown's Fairfield garage over tire price disputes two years ago. Brown describes Fox choking and slapping, then a struggle with a stick and punches. Fox claims self defense. Trial resumed this afternoon.

He faces charges of assault with attempt to kill.

Built for the U S Navy by Staten Island Shipbuilding Co it carries 2 500 horsepower boilers a 4 000 mile radius and a 150 foot length. Captain John A Paradis former Navy lieutenant commands the trial with chief engineer John Colliton and Vice President James Davidson aboard. The tug logged fourteen knots on the way to Bridgeport and will undergo a stability test after today’s run.
Hartford April 20 John J. Cote man chairman of the Municipal Rent Commission says a statewide petition to Governor Holcomb seeks a special session of the general assembly to enact legislation easing housing costs. He plans 50 000 signatures circulated statewide with mayoral cooperation. Also the Public Utilities Commission approves Columbia Graphophone company side track in Wordinewanne across Howard avenue and Cherry street.
