The injured youth was attended by a private physician and minor damages were reported to both vehicles.
Bridgeport will be the first large city in Connecticut to join the Municipal Employees Retirement Fund providing a pension system for all city workers not now covered. Official entry date is Wednesday with about 1,000 eligible. The plan offers 25 percent of salary for 15 years and two thirds after 40 years, with debate over Mayor Vickery’s eligibility under a special amendment.

Three U S soldiers held by Yugoslav forces since Monday returned to free territory at Trieste. First Lt. William Van Atten, Pfc. Earl G. Hendrick Jr., and Pfc. Glen A. Meyer rode home on their horses with their mascot Tiny. They reported good treatment, two questions, and a bedbug complaint. An immediate medical check followed arrival at outpost No. 5 near the border.

In Pikeville Kentucky Circuit Judge R Monroe Fields sentenced 13 year old Crawford Casebolt to life at hard labor after conviction for armed robbery. The youth will be sent to Greendale reform school until 21 then LaGrange penitentiary for life. Accomplices Homer Zimmerman 19 and Mark Smith 23 already began serving terms. Roberts of Virgie was robbed of car, watch and 484 dollars after Casebolt helped procure the weapon and aided the plan to kill the victim.
At the UN Soviet delegate Gromyko accused the United States of justifying armed intervention in Greece and said Washington seeks to undermine the UN. He rejected the U.S. proposal and offered a counter plan blaming Greece while urging withdrawal of foreign troops and a commission to supervise aid. A separate plea from Poland condemned the Marshall Plan and urged nonparticipation in external Europe programs.
