Lewis said enough evidence exists to implicate half the Police Department and half the sheriff's office in a beer running scandal linked to the slayings of alleged beer runners. He ordered William O'Donnell and William Califarala held as habeas corpus hearings resumed Monday. O'Donnell warned Califarala to stay silent. Bailiffs guarded the courtroom as Joseph Laynon surrendered, denying knowledge of the affair.
