Washington September 20 The soldier's bonus bill failed enactment as the Senate sustained President Harding's veto after a House override. Senate 44 yeas to 28 nays short of two thirds. House 325 to 54 in favor of the measure. Return of the bonus fight is unlikely before the next Congress beginning December 4.
Patrick and Michael Davey of Ballymore Ireland challenge Mrs. Bessie McGettrick’s accounting for their sister Magsy Davey’s wake in New York. They object to a $1000 board charge, a $545 funeral bill, and a $3000 wake cost claiming cigars cigarettes and pipes bought during the wake.
