Boston on September 17 AP: Mayor James M. Curley announced support for Theodore A. Glynn city fire commissioner in the November mayoral race. Curley seeks a nonconsecutive term while Glynn is one of thirteen candidates, many with party ties in the Democratic stronghold.
Navy department order limits Connecticut enlistments to seven men weekly with Bridgeport Hartford New Haven two each and Stamford one. The move aims to reach full strength while discharge numbers have fallen and pensioned sailors vacate posts. Several enlistments are on file but must be confirmed two at a time under the new rule.
Deeds were recorded for the sale of two parcels on Sterling street at 140 and 1 to the city for the site of a new Trade school building. The land formerly belonged to Anna Bednarski and Angelino Winciguarra. The buildings on the premises must be torn down before construction begins. Neighboring landowner Mr. Carbone refused to sell the adjoining property, and condemnation action is planned to force a sale.
