Norwalk Tragedy: New Rochelle Man Dies by Self Inflicted Shot

The body of John H. Greene of New Rochelle was found on Benson Road Norwalk with a bullet wound to the right temple. A note indicated he planned suicide after coming to Norwalk to help a friend in trouble. authorities investigated possible motives while recovering papers and belongings.

Erratic Survey Delays Rescue of Buried Miners

In Jackson California a survey of a rescue effort for entombed miners shows a misdirection and a solid wall of twenty feet to be breached. Gasoline Tank Explodes Injuring Two Men

Two men, Daniel Rich and Jack Josefson, were burned when a gasoline tank exploded while fueling a truck on Noble avenue at East Main street. They were taken to Emergency hospital and then St. Vincent's hospital with severe burns. The blaze damaged the truck and furniture estimated at $200.

Sunday Fishermen Record Bluefish Catch at Stratford

A record bluefish catch was reported by Asher men returning from four days of angling at the Housatonic mouth. About 4 PM the run produced large catches with 23 powerboats and 40 rowboats taking part. A party from Stratford including Mr and Mrs Burritt John Healey and Captain Isaac Hull reported over 400 blues between 4 and 6 PM. An enthusiastic fisherman estimated more than two tons were caught off the Stratford breakwater.

Auto classic ends in death and nine injuries at Kansas City 300

One driver killed and nine hurt in a dramatic Kansas City 300 race. Tommy Milton won with an average speed of 108 miles per hour, while Roscoe Searles died when his car leaped a saucer track and burst into flames. Eddie Hearne and Hefferman were among the serious and critical casualties.

Last of Lincoln's Pallbearers Dies in New Haven

Henry M. Crocker, reputedly the last living pallbearer of Abraham Lincoln, died at his New Haven home in his 80s. He served in Company D of the 22nd New York Volunteers, was wounded at Mechanicsville, mustered out, and later did guard duty in Washington. Crocker was born in 1841 in New York State.

Petrie Dies After City Auto Crash in Park Avenue

William Petrie of 633 Park Avenue Riverside died after a collision between a city owned car driven by Quinn J. Gurley and a Brodeneic Box Co truck driven by Cary Lin Lalley at Brooks Street and Lafayette Street. Petrie sustained a fractured skull and died at St. Vincent's Hospital. Curley and Lilley were charged with reckless driving. Coroner John J. Phelan opened an inquiry. Police reported the crash occurred shortly after 6 o'clock.

In city court this morning the disposition of Adams case concerned a fortune telling charge under a state statute. Adams was arrested at noon Saturday and the woman were released on bonds of 30 dollars. She operated a phrenologist parlor at 41 Warfield avenue. Many other fortune tellers and phrenologists occupying central stores may be obliged to close if Mrs Adams is convicted.

Seventy Attend Annual Meeting of 56th CAC

The annual reunion of the 56th C A C was held yesterday in New London. About ten men from this city attended the tented gathering with members of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. They left Bridgeport at 7 o'clock and rode the last train back last night aboard Captain Arthy Bennett and Cathers bus.
