Maniac Fires On Children In Stratford Woods

Police and volunteers hunted for hours for an unidentified gunman after he fired at three children playing near their homes. Charles Chorus, 6, Sidney Chorin, 5, and William Chorus, 3, were wounded with shots to the hand arm cheek and neck. A passerby Rose Klepacki escaped injury when the man fired at her. The victims were taken to Bridgeport hospital with non fatal injuries. The suspect was described as a man wearing a white shirt, last seen escaping into the woods.

British Vessel Seized In Dry Navy Liquor Probe

Authorities studied the two masted fishing schooner M. M. Gardner after a dawn seizure by a Dry Navy patrol off Scotland Lightship. They recovered $66,000 in cash and 100 cases of liquor, plus ledgers listing names of cafe and hotel keepers across Broadway, Atlantic City, Asbury Park, Long Branch and other resorts. Captain M. Slayer Granted Reprieve With No One To Hang Him

Bennie Swim, condemned for Olive Swim Trent holm’s murder, was reprieved for three weeks as no suitable executioner could be found in the countryside. American Minister Murdered in India

The Rev. Lorain S. Gates of the American mission in Sholapur was killed at Bijapur on September 6. Police arrested Mohammedan man charged with the murder. Gates, 77, had served 47 years with the mission and went to Bijapur at the request of Miss Fulohar, head of the local branch.

Conferees Report On Soldier Bonus Adopted By House

The House without a roll call adopted the conference report on the Soldiers bonus and sent it to the Senate. Only one member, Graham of Pennsylvania, said he would vote against the bill, citing financing.
