League Covenant Averts War, Says Wickersham
New Haven Sept 13 No other comprehensive plan to avert war is before the world today than the League covenant built upon the League of Nations, George W. Wickersham said at Yale Chapel tonight. He argued the Greco Italian dispute tested the league and warned Italy and Greece set a dangerous example. He cited Penn on governments moved by men and noted the league’s fault lines with national sovereignty. Italy’s invasion and Italy’s stance were discussed as a breach of treaty and independence, challenging Britain’s influence in the council.
