Ballen Edges Murren In 29 Vote GOP Primary
Myron R Balten chairman of the Fairfield Republican town committee edged John H Murren of Fairfield by 29 votes for the 28th Senatorial district GOP nomination in a primary yesterday. Ballen received 1792 votes to 1763 for Murren. Easton and Bethel towns helped Ballen win the nomination. Murren plans a recount. Ballen faces Democrat Schivartz of Easton in November. Other party results in Fairfield and district tallies are noted.

Judge Gesell ordered John Ehrlichman to report to the federal prison camp at Safford Arizona by Sept 17 to begin a 60 month sentence stemming from the Watergate plumbers case.
