Glenn Scobey Warner known as Pop Warner, famed for his football coaching, died in Palo Alto California at age 83 after months with throat cancer. Bus Crashes Pole In Storm Injuring Eight
In West Haven during an electrical storm a Greyhound bus struck a utility pole on Route 1. Seven passengers and the driver were injured but none were listed as critically hurt. The bus veered to avoid a stopping auto, sideswiped it, and hit the pole. Auto driver Theron S. Niles Jr., 23, of the town was identified. The injured include driver Boyd Bartholomew, 37, of New Providence, New Jersey.
