Fairfield man plans four-and-a-half mile swim for Muscular Dystrophy

Fairfielder Stephen Sullivan 19, of 1001 Fairfield Beach Road, will swim from Fairfield Beach to Penfield Lighthouse at 10 24 a m to raise funds for the Jerry Lewis Telethon. He has done this for five years and will seek sponsors per mile. He expects the swim to take two and a half to three hours and will report results to the Telethon. Last year he biked 200 miles in two days and raised about 400 dollars.

Des Plaines Illinois defeated Metairie Louisiana 4 to 2 to eliminate Metairie from the American Legion Baseball World Series in Manchester.
