Debate Over Public High Schools Dictated by Colleges
J B Davis of the National Committee of Secondary Education told Bridgeport Rotary that colleges dominate high school curricula. He warned the system remains undemocratic as only a small share of students prepare for college exams while many enter high school for workplace training. He urged education for all in a democracy with broad objectives including health, home life, vocation, citizenship, leisure, and character. Local education officials attended the talk.
