Police Lieutenant Emil Punrman was shot after a gun battle with seven men. One man was killed and Punrman was seriously wounded. The other six suspects were arrested.
Ort. 80 Stanislaus Volaitis formerly employed by Mrs. Bridget McNamara on her Plot district farm sues for 25 000 damages claiming a DUI owned by McNamara gored him and tossed him over a fence last spring causing permanent injuries after a miraculous escape from death. An experienced wife is one that can tell whether he is being dignified or just pouting.
Two women, Anna Collins 60 and Clara Comba, died from burns after a dinner party fire sparked by a curtain contacting a gas flame at 175 West 6th Street. Firemen were injured by monoxide gas but survived, and a battalion chief was saved by a firefighter who crawled under debris to reach him.
In district court Elizabeth Ahearn Loft testified against George Leon Lott in a divorce case. Lott, son of candy maker G W Lott, gained notoriety by walking a fourteen story ledge in their New York apartment building to torment his wife. The decree was granted. Separately, San Diego officials voted to create smoking rooms for women and men in all public dance halls.
A nationwide Victor products demonstration begins at 9 AM on November 2 1925. Victor introduces a new instrument praised by Kreisler Schumann Heink and Sousa and promises unmatched tone and versatility across instrumental solos vocal selections bands and dance music.
Anna Davis of Brooklyn sought to end her life in Bridgeport but diverted to shopping and planning suicide with a gun. She befriended Davis who bought time and helped locate a revolver, then fled with her money. Davis was caught. Anna pressed no charges and returned home.
State tax commissioner William H. Blodgett commends Tax Collector Howard S. Challenger for faster tax collection in Bridgeport. He notes Bridgeport papers report higher receipts than 1924 and says a new day has dawned as abuses in collection are corrected.
Mrs H H Stauterback, wife of a rancher near Fort Lupton Colorado, says she killed 140 rattlesnakes with a club in a two hour struggle to protect herself and her three year old child on a pasture walk. Two ranchers corroborated her tale.
The new Pythian Sister lodge will be organized and elect officers tonight at 7 o clock. The meeting will be held at the Colonel Harry Cutler lodge room, 1035 Matin Street. Members must be present to have their names on the charter member list. The grand chief and staff will install and initiate new members. The best guard team in the state will be present to work the degree.
