In the French Quarter two women, the wives of Henry and Joe Motty, were found crudely dismembered and packed in unlocked trunks. He found work in New York making loudspeakers for a radio company earning 37 cents an hour from 9 am to 6:15 pm. He brought back his time card as proof to Easton officials and received a good cigar from his professor. The wager arose after Professor Steever criticized unemployment as a failing of society. Finley’s father believed in his son’s success and his faith was vindicated when news of the job reached Hamden.
