Huge Gould Heirs Litigation May Be In Vain
New York October 84 Through the death of Grace L Gould litigation involving an accounting of the Jay Gould estate spanned 100 days of hearings with over 20 000 pages of testimony and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Counsel for the late Mr Gould argued that substitution of executors would wrongfully end the case while George J Gould s account as trustee faced potential reversion to his estate. The accounting suit with wide participation could end without a decision due to Gould s death and repercussions for beneficiaries if claims against the estate were upheld.

Tapestry Thieves Suspected In Versailles Burglary
Paris October 24. Hairpin evidence and muddy footprints point to a daring burglary at Versailles palace. Robbers, possibly two men and at least one woman, used a window in the Salon de Mercure to steal tapestries and other valuables before escaping in two automobiles. Police preserve footprints including a feminine heel print and consider a fanatical collector theory. Security will be heightened with steel shutters.
