South Viet soldiers reported major ground fight

South Vietnamese infantrymen said they killed 195 Communist troops in a fierce battle about 20 miles south of the demilitarized zone. The action was the only major ground fight reported as Typhoon Carla curtailed air offensives. American air raids continued with B 52 bombers and fighters targeting southern North Vietnam and border areas. Moderate casualties were reported by Vietnamese headquarters four miles northeast of Hai Long in Quang Tri Province.
