Mrs Ivy Giberson Found Guilty and Given Life Term

Mrs Ivy Giberson was found guilty of murder in the first degree for the Lakehurst killing of her husband William F. Giberson and sentenced to life imprisonment. The verdict came after four hours of jury deliberation with her son Joseph Richmond and her brother present. Bridgeport Sees Chilly Start With Winds From Northwest

Early yesterday Bridgeport faced a cold day as northwest winds kept temperatures near 50 degrees in the morning, rising only to about 60 by late night. Meteorologists forecast a chilly Thursday with a gradual warmup expected Friday into the weekend.

Dolls Used to Fool Husband in Mystery Case

In Hammond Indiana at a municipal court preliminary hearing Mrs Hazel McNally is accused by her husband Frank McNally of murdering their twins using dolls. Neighbors Agnes Schirmer and Mary Griffith testified the dolls in the bed appeared to hold the twins’ wing and that the babies were kept in a darkened room. Nurse Mary Griffith said the mother would not let anyone handle the babies. Schirmer described a face seen when the bed cover was drawn back. Police Chief Bunge said McNally pressed for arrest and alleged the dolls were purchased to feign pregnancy. Mrs McNally claimed prior to her marriage she had an operation preventing birth and had used the doll hoax to deter paternal rivals.

General Mitchell Sets New Official World Speed Record

Brigadier General William Mitchell flies a Curtiss biplane over one kilometer at Belt Widge Field reaching an average speed of 248.55 miles per hour. The test was officially certified by Federation Aeronautique Internationale officials present, with Hoover witnessing and congratulating engineers and military crews.

Striking Sentence Imposed by Judge in Wife Beating Case

In Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania on October 18 a magistrate Alderman Edward Burke of Elston struck defendant Anthony Azakes after hearing only part of the wife’s testimony. Burke ordered Azakes to stand up and hit him twice in the face striking the left eye and the other eye. The court record says the judge vowed the man would never strike again.
