Austro Premier says peace hopes, hostilities to end soon

Basel Oct 17 Baron Burian Austro Hungarian foreign minister told the Austrian foreign affairs committee that after examining Wilson's reply to Germany he would not alter the belief that a cessation of hostilities on all fronts and negotiations for a general peace would occur within a distant date. He stressed armistice talks depend on military factors and that future peace must not be a peace by force.

Jury Frees Baby Doll And Hawkins In Murder Case

After a one hour forty minute deliberation a Fairfield county jury returned a not guilty verdict for William Baby Doll Thomas and Jake Hawkins in the December 1917 Kerstone Social club riot murder case.
