The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Washington Senators seven to five in a rain soaked seventh game to claim the National League title and secure the world series championship. Forty two thousand fans witnessed the dramatic contest as Walter Johnson faced the Pirates.
London crowds gather in a gala welcome as the Prince of Wales returns to his home town with radio broadcasts spreading cheers across the kingdom. The Repulse races toward Portsmouth while bunting and flowers adorn Victoria Station for a massive, festive reception planned for Buckingham Palace.
Mrs Adola Babina thirty four of 782 Hallett Street died at Bridgeport hospital eight hours after being struck and having a skull fracture. Charles B. Watson of 102 Clifford Street waived examination in City Court and was bound over to the Criminal Superior Court for trial on charges of assault on a young boy. Dunham reported Thursday night after returning from the West Coast trip to the annual convention of state insurance commissioners in San Antonio, Texas. He noted letters from prominent banks urging loans of 10,000 dollars and more on uninsurable property.
Atlantic City October 15 President William Green was unanimously reelected to head the American Federation of Labor. The convention also reappointed officers Frank Morrison secretary Danish Tobin treasurer and senior vice presidents.
