Liberty Bond Sale at Poli Theatre Sets Record

Liberty bonds totaling 214,700 were sold at Poli Theatre during Saturday performances as Minute Women led by captain Mrs. George Mara raised funds. Comedian Harry Breen helped on the bill while buyers included Mrs. Ida Rivkin who purchased 500 and Thomas N. Snyer and M. J. Reilly with 100 each.

United Church Raises 5100 000 in Liberty Bond Drive

Bridgeport church members subscribed to the Fourth Liberty Loan raising about 152 000 total after the service at United Church on Gilbert and Broad streets. Howard Speer led the drive with most bonds sold via parishioner pamphlets and bank efforts plus a push to reach the 150 000 goal. Subscriptions continued at Seaside Park with about 30 000 more sold. bankers opened Saturday hours to boost sales.

Bridgeport Teacher Miss Margaret McGuinness Dead

The death of kindergarten teacher Miss Margaret J. R. McGuinness at her mother’s home follows a week of illness during the influenza outbreak in Bridgeport. A Bridgeport High School and Smith Fraevel Kindergarten graduate, she taught at Lincoln School and was highly regarded by students and staff. She leaves her mother Mrs. Miia A. McGuinness and four sisters, plus one brother in the 327th Tru Fant, currently in France.

Struck by West Bound Car Stuke Loses Left Leg

Italians to Visit Bridgeport Wednesday in Large Number

House Ransacked While Family Is Out of Town
