Fatemi Given Death By Hanging In Iran Trial

A military court in Tehran sentenced Hossein Fatemi, ex foreign minister and ally of Mossadegh, to death by hanging for conspiring with Mossadegh to overthrow the shah. Two aides Ali Shayegan and Ahmad Rezavi were convicted of attempting to depose the monarch. Fatemi, captured March 13 after fleeing with a disguise, heard the verdict on a stretcher amid appeals plans. The case follows Mossadegh's 1953 overthrow and prior treason conviction.

Vessel Destroyed By Fire In Sound

The 38 foot auxiliary schooner Cheerio was destroyed by fire in Long Island Sound. Owner Harry Monteiro and two companions escaped in a dinghy after motor trouble sparked the blaze near Middleground lighthouse. Firefighters and a Coast Guard boat responded. the hull burned to the water line. Insurance on the craft was $5,000.

Barnegat Light lobster dinner sickens 600 people

About 600 Barnegat Light residents and visitors fell ill after a lobster salad dinner at the fire house end of summer event. Health inspector Abe Rose blamed mayonnaise in the seafood or potato salad as the likely source. most victims were treated on site by two local doctors and no one required hospitalization.

Search Called Off for 25 Missing In Ship Sinking

The Coast Guard ended its sea and air search for the 25 crewmen still missing after the ore freighter Mormackite capsized and sank 150 miles east southeast of Cape Henry. Nine Men Trapped in Tunnel Rescued at Harvard Site

Boston dispatch reports nine workers were trapped 400 feet underground for two and a half hours when a fire broke out in a shaft from a water main tunnel near Harvard Stadium. Firefighters descended to extinguish the blaze after the men waited in a nearly mile-long tunnel with intact ventilation. The blaze started by a short fault in the shaft.

Assailant Seized at Gunpoint Near Stabbing Scene

In Norwalk on Oct 10 a landlord, 61, was stabbed to death in his tenant's home at about 6:30 pm. Tenant Miguel A. Colon, 43, lived next door and was captured at LaPorte's Trailer Camp, admitting the slaying and claiming self defense. Hazel marking time near Isle of Jamaica
