Honduran forces clash with Cuban snipers in Tegucigalpa

The Honduran government claims Cuban communists led a four hour assault by snipers and army units in Tegucigalpa. Four Cubans were captured and two were killed, with reports of up to eight bodies seen. The military says forces are now in control as reinforcements patrol the city.

Bridgeport Man Killed By Auto on Yonkers Parkway

Thomas J. Halloren of Bridgeport died after being struck by a car on the Cross-Westchester Parkway in Yonkers New York. He was standing near the shoulder when the auto swerved and hit him. Funeral services set for Wednesday with a solemn high Requiem Mass at St Augustine's Cathedral and burial in St Michael's Cemetery. Survivors include his parents and paternal grandmother. He was a native of Bridgeport and attended Fairfield University and Fordham University, having recently completed a six month Army tour.

Five Die in Connecticut Weekend Traffic Toll

The state traffic deaths rose to five as incidents over the weekend claimed lives in Connecticut. Martha Howes of Sarasota Florida, 21, a University of Connecticut coed, was killed when her car crashed into a rock ledge during a turn.

Records Broken At Danbury Fair

The 94th Danbury Fair closed with a record crowd surpassing all prior metrics. A total of 52499 paid admissions were recorded for the day, and nine-day attendance reached 179,078, far above the 165,0829 record set in 1901. General manager Ichi W. Leahy and assistant C. Javing Jarvis praised the turnout and announced plans for 1984, noting that a downpour on the first Sunday barely dented the record. The first Sunday turnout dropped to 559 paid admissions from 49334 last year, while excellent weather in the final eight days aided overall attendance.
