Trolleys Collide Leaves Motorman Facing Death
Stamford, Oct 6 Special. Joseph Brown of East Portchester, motorman on the New York Stamford trolley line, was fatally injured when his trolley collided head on with another near the Conde Nast plant. Both cars telescoped. Brown was trapped for 45 minutes, taken to Stamford Hospital with a broken left leg and internal injuries. Witnesses say the eastbound trolley, under Motorman Charles Baldwin, cleared a single-track hill but descended too soon, causing the crash that jolted passengers and left several with scratches and minor injuries.
