Report of a large vessel catching fire before completion and delivery. The ship, named Leviathan, had been under construction at a shipyard near the Fumbune area and was nearly finished. Dispatches indicate naval authorities expect the vessel to be surrendered to international authorities within weeks.
The Democratic probate convention named Attorney Joseph J. Doyle as the unan1mous candidate and praised Devine's war record, noting his Yale education and long legal practice. Devine, born in Waterbury, served in WWI, was wounded at Chateau-Thierry, and received the Croix de Guerre.
