In Rome the Constituent Assembly rejected two no confidence motions against Premier Alcide de Gasperi’s Christian Democratic government. The first motion led by Pietro Nenni’s Socialists failed 1178 to 271 with 63 abstentions. The second by Giuseppe Saragat’s Socialist Labor Party failed 93 to 47 as deputies backed the premier. The foreign minister Carlo Sforza thanked the assembly for cheering US renunciation of its share of the Italian fleet.

A soft spoken thief forced entry into the penthouse of Mrs. Sam Gabor Hilton, former Miss Hungary and ex-wife of Conrad Hilton, and escaped with about 700000 dollars worth of gems including a 220 carat engagement ring, diamond necklace, bracelets, and other pieces after threatening to shoot. Five year old Richard Brabner testified in Superior court that a judge would send him to hell for lying. He and his mother Mrs Marian Brabner, injured June 6 1945 in a Main near 30th streets auto crash, were plaintiffs in a $10 000 damage suit with Samuel Rich as counsel. Planes Crash at Danbury Fair Grounds Kill Four
Two passenger cabin planes on a training flight from Rye New York collided in the air and crashed near the Danbury Fair Grounds. Four people died three from Fairfield County, including the pilots Howard C. Dunn and Walter James ONeill. The women passengers Edith Heydt and H R Dosswell were identified later. The wreckage sparked a gasoline explosion as fire and police contained the scene.
