Batchelor Receives Life Term For Aiding Enemy In Korea
Cpl. Claude Batchelor of Kermit Texas was convicted by a court martial of collaborating with the enemy and informing on fellow POWs in Korea. He received a life sentence with dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of pay. Batchelor, 22, was found guilty on three counts and acquitted on one. His mother wept as he murmured I can take it before sentencing. He and another POW were repatriated after initially refusing to quit their captors.
