Crowds fill the railroad station with home-coming and home-going travelers as Bridgeport shoppers chase holiday feasts. Families haul armloads of turkey and sides through markets and stores while prices inch higher, and grocers adjust to a brisk yet costly rush ahead of Thanksgiving Day.
Mayor Atwater favors using soft coal for all city needs where feasible and reserves hard coal for households unable to switch. W E Burnham head of the Board of Contract and Supply could not meet with city officials to discuss hard coal deliveries for heating at City Hall.

Washington reports a two session Progressive conference with 18 Senators and 26 Representatives listed as attending next Friday and Saturday. La Follette and Huddleston head the movement. Friday is secret, Saturday open to 300. The roster includes eight Republicans, four Democrats, and one Farmer Laborite, with Walsh withdrawing.
Springview ll Nov 18 Associated Press. Governor Small commutes the sentences of William Brose Liedl and 16 associates jailed in Joliet and Cook County for violation of the anti Syndicalium law. They are freed tonight after serving part of their terms since 1922, the governor citing dissenting Supreme Court views and war psychology. They are not criminals, and have suffered since conviction.
Police raid on 272 Newfield Avenue store led to seizure of a large liquor stock described as twenty proof. Matta Polumbo allegedly ran a brisk wholesale and retail whiskey wine and hard cider operation with prices like Old Times. Witnesses say customers drank on site or bought for use elsewhere. a husband complained his wife drank Polumbo’s liquor. Officers seized wine whiskey vodka and other items. bond set at 300 for court today.
Sanford E Havens 22 year old son of James H Havens was served with a writ as defendant in a $10,000 action by Sophie Pic administratrix of the estate of four year old Nicholas who was fatally injured when struck by a car driven by Havens on Sept 11. The sheriff was ordered to attach $12,000 in Havens property. The complaint says Havens drove at an excessive speed near Helen street and negligent to pedestrians on the highway, the child dying from injuries.
An ambulance driver from Eneres Hospital plans to resign on December 15. Fire department sources indicate a firefighter from Company 1 may be appointed to fill the vacancy, with Dr Frank Wy Stevens of the City Dispensary Board confirming the move. The department notes the driver has prior service and that the resignation was not publicly announced by the department.
In Toledo on November 29 an insurance policy for 260 million dollars was taken out by the faculty managers of Scott and Watte High Schools to cover the crowd at the annual football game. About 26,000 spectators have tickets, with each insured for 10,000 dollars against fire and related hazards.
In Bridgeport three juvenile suspects confess to a spree of at least sixteen break ins over a little more than a month. They targeted money loot, smashed rear windows for entry, and at times used a “booetine” plan to pass valuables. They named the Fish Market and a barber shop among the robbed sites, with $35 taken from a cash drawer last Friday. The youths deny elder influence, saying they acted independently.
New York November 20 body of a woman believed to be Mrs Donna Becker of the Bronx found tonight in a vacant lot near her home. Police say she disappeared six months ago. Her husband Abraham Becker and family friend Ruben Norkin are held on material witness charges. District Attorney Glennon suspects foul play.

The North End Improvement Club led by Nicholas Tesiny asked Mayor Atwater for sanitary and storm sewers to stop overflow from Frenchtown pond and surface water flooding Main Street to Trumbline and Thorne streets. They cited twenty unused drains, property damage, and fire risk. George M. Coughlin will pursue temporary relief while long term fixes proceed.

Engineers from Bridgeport’s fuel board say Welsh coal rivals American hard coal in heating value, with 14 400 to 16 100 BTU per pound, and can be delivered to local docks at about $8.05 a ton, enabling dealers to compete on price.
A grand opening parade marks the Broad Street Carnival celebrating Broad Street as an improved business highway. Cecilia Plana, a resident of New London Nevada, died after being struck by a trolley car in Waterford tonight. Ty FE Sexton, the operator, was held without bond at seven thousand dollars pending a hearing set for tomorrow after examination by Dr. George Minor.
Washington November 28 The administration shipping bill passed the House by 208 to 184 after 69 Republicans deserted their party. Democrats supported the measure. The bill now goes to the Senate, where a committed group plans to accept it and push the fight to the floor next week.

Chicago November 28 by Associated Press Georges Clemenceau touring the United States to foster Franco American ties issued a Thanksgiving message expressing deep gratitude for the reception and attention given to his remarks. He spent the day sightseeing and planned visits to Springfield to view Lincoln's tomb and a memorial address then to St Louis for a formal address.
Town Manager Hunter returned from New York with a $50,000 check from New York Trust Co for short term notes to cover payrolls and expenses. Direct borrowing through the town manager, bypassing brokers, saved commissions and travel costs, signaling a credit solid despite recent economic chatter.
