Prison convict O Mahony dies after prison ward gunshot wounds
James Napo leon Bonaparte O Mahony a life convict and slayer of his sweetheart in Greenwich died in the Wethersfield state prison hospital of peritonitis from gunshot wounds received during a failed escape Tuesday night November 22. An autopsy by Medical Examiner Henry N. Costello found the wound infection aggravated a gastric condition. The coroner refused to investigate, and the body was moved to J C Dillon’s undertaking parlors. O Mahony had been sentenced in Bridgeport to life for second degree murder of Beatrice Dofinelly of New York City.
