The president visits New York today to confer on Cuba as US military units remain deployed south east. He will spend at least 12 hours away from the White House touring bases in Florida and Georgia including Key West, 90 miles from Cuba.
In Key West Mikoyan told Cuba that Russia stands with them and will continue aid, saying Cuba will win its victory as Castro and he wrap up a 24 day visit amid the Cuban crisis with discussions aired on television and radio.
Former vice president Henry A. Wallace, speaking at St Stephen's Episcopal Church, warned that rapid China population growth could fuel poverty and demagoguery, risking world peace. He said China seeks leadership of the "have not" nations and could threaten Russia and the West, with hate and violence advancing a dangerous march of extremism.
Cooper Baldwin and Denny finished a grueling ascent on a 7554 foot peak with six nights on the wall. They endured near vertical pitches, rationed water to a quart per day, and ate water crackers and canned meat for Thanksgiving on a final ledge.

The Associated Press reports two Thanksgiving Day crashes killed and injured several. Samuel J. Eaton, 27, of Quaker Hill died when his motorcycle veered into guard rails on Route 32 in Waterford after his license was restored following a suspension. In New Haven, 63-year old Primo Alessandrini of West Haven was fatally injured when his car struck an abutment on the Connecticut Turnpike.
NASA released an update on Mariner 2 launched August 27 showing it on course to pass within 20,000 miles of Venus. At 7 a.m. EST the craft stood 22,147,5250 miles from Earth with 6,001,016 miles to Venus and a good radio signal.

Local 444 Bakery and Confectionary Workers union voted to end a 10 day strike against A P Stores. Some workers to return to plants in Bronx Brooklyn Elmhurst and Maspeth. New contract provides two eight cent hourly raises over two years and severance pay for workers displaced by a future automated bakery in Flushing. About 700 workers affected. Old contract expired Sept 1. Walkout cited requests for full time staffing and opposition to consolidating baking at one location.
NORWALK NOV 25 The New York strike halted delivery of A P Bakery goods to children stores from here to the New York state border. During the ten day strike A and P management bought bakery pots from local bakeries for all A and P stores in western Fairfield county.
National Distillers and Chemical announces John H. Pimm of West Park as director of international metals operations. Pimm, a 12 year Bridgeport Brass veteran, will coordinate overseas metals activities from 89 Park Avenue New York with his wife and three children.

The veteran journalist, who also served as editor at the Philadelphia Evening Public Ledger and New York American, shaped modern metropolitan reporting with enterprise features and sharp writing. A police search continued last night for two men who allegedly shot and wounded North End resident Anthony Salvaggio at 4 a m on Lexington Avenue. Salvaggio, wounded in the left hip, identified the attackers as two Negrors who fled in an old dark car.
