The New Hargen tug Winfield S Cahill with a bargeload of crushed stone for Black Rock and a light boat faced a sustained gale off Stratford Point. For seven hours the tug fought head winds and high seas before safely landing the barges at eight o’clock. A relief boat was sent as conditions persisted and the Naugatuck arrived late from New York.

Rebecca A Sterling Dies After Brief Illness At 37
Rebecca A Hawley Sterling widow of Edward Sterling died yesterday at 3 PM at 2230 North Avenue after a brief illness at age 37. She was born in this city and lifelong resident, a charter member of Bridgeport Protestant Orphan Asylum and past president, executive committee member of that group, affiliated with the English Literary Club and active in Red Cross work. Survived by three daughters Mrs. Robert E B Carter of Washington DC Donn Mrs Frank Gifford Cook of Cambridge Massachusetts and Mrs Jennie Van Tassel of Mississippi. Funeral Friday at 2 PM at the late home. Rev. William H. Dey of United Congregational Church officiating. Burial in Mountain Grove cemetery.
