A California narcotics official on Monday said society has lost the fight against marijuana spread and that the drug should now be treated with controls similar to alcohol. The official argued for regulated sale and stricter oversight to curb usage.
Weldon H. Smith of California corrections argues marijuana use among ages 14 to 30 infiltrates schools, colleges, and professions, urging regulatory controls similar to alcohol. He notes heroin and methamphetamine as more dangerous, while Colorado’s area is 104 247 square miles.
