Women Preachers Expected to Fill Pulpits Soon
Philadelphia dispatch reports a belief that women preachers will fill most rural pulpits in time. Rev. David D. Horsult, secretary of the Board of Home Missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church, told the board meeting that women ministers will soon be a common sight in country schools and churches. He warned rural ministers face tougher times but argued women could be as successful as men, given economic constraints and family needs. The Rev. Jr. de Wide outlined the church world service program calling for a fund of 1884 to support fourteen missionary and benevolent boards.
