UN asks France to drop a test in the Sahara
The United Nations asked France to refrain from conducting an atomic test in the Sahara Desert prompting a divided vote at the General Assembly. The 51 to 16 tally with 15 abstentions approved a watered down resolution urging France to halt the planned tests and avoid dangerous conditions in Africa.
