In Madeira Beach near St. Petersburg Florida FBI agents and local police arrested Herbert Grossman Fred Kaplan and Irving Rothbaum all New York residents on charges of interstate transportation of 38000 in negotiable bonds linked to a September 1954 burglary at Dr Reubin Thalbergs Southington Connecticut home Bonds valued at 200000 to 300000 were stolen Dr Thalberg reported the break in and the stolen bonds were publicized in the American Bankers Association Journal to aid detection The men were to be arraigned in Tampa pending further action

Teens Sought In Attack and Thefts In Bridgeport

Police searched Bridgeport's East side for two teenagers linked to a 40 minute spree in Washington Park. They mugged a pedestrian and snatched purses from two women, with one assailant described as wearing a light blue jacket. James Burns, 47, of 819 William Street, was hospitalized with facial injuries after the incident and had $10 taken from his wallet.

Harbor Work To Hit Fishing Pier And Dock Relocation

State highway officials and City Hall leaders discussed dredging part of Bridgeport harbor to fund thruway fill. The plan would shorten the Pleasure beach fishing pier from about 1,400 to 700 feet and extend the excursion boat dock to 200 by 40 feet. If approved, demolitions would start mid January for use by the 193? summer season.

Boy Seized By Dad Returns Five-Year-Old To Mother

A Stratford five year old boy Allen Olson was returned to his mother after his father Harold Olson was charged with breach of the peace for forcibly taking him from Garden Street school at 12:45 p.m. yesterday. Fairfield police arrested Olson on Post Road at 1:30 p.m. and he was booked then released on bond.

Man Crushed By Car On Danger List After Near-By Collision

Theodore Marolis, 65, a roomer at 2065 Prospect street, was struck by a westbound auto at Lafayette and Prospect streets during drizzle. He suffered a skull fracture, leg fracture, and possible internal injuries and was placed on the danger list at St Vincent's hospital. The driver, Richard Hurley, 22, of 1479 Fairfield avenue, was summoned for violating state auto laws. he said he was en route to Sacred Heart church to finalize wedding plans.

In Cleveland on November 19, AP reports Dr. Samuel Sheppard, charged with killing his wife, once told police in a signed statement that she spurned potential lovers and that one of them may have killed her. Picketing Ends at Merritt Parkway Gas Stations

Pickets were withdrawn after a settlement between Teamsters Local 145 and the Durso Brothers over four workers fired for joining the union. A bargaining election among the station employees at Fairfield is planned under the State Labor Relations board. The move followed a New Haven Superior Court hearing on an injunction attempt to halt picketing.

Buck deer crashes into car. four injured in Route 7 crash

In Sheffield Massachusetts a 175 pound buck rammed into a car driven by Richard Bunce, chased by dogs. The deer landed in the back seat where Richard Nanni of Connecticut wrestled it and pinned it until it died. Camille Manghue was cut on the head and taken to hospital. Others in the car were Edward Boutin and Olympia Cartinelli, all of Sheffield. The car traveled about 100 yards before stopping.

Child Rescued After Head Wedged Under Bathtub

Firefighters of Squad 5 freed 15 month old Alice Louise Hronjak after her head became wedged under a bathtub while she played at home on 94 Asylumo Street. She was treated at Bridgeport Hospital for bruises to the head and neck and released.

PUC Approves CRL Fare Rise to 15 Cents and Ten Ride Ticket

The Connecticut Railway and Lighting company gains approval to end bus tokens and set a flat 15 cent fare, effective Thursday. Tokens redeemable at CRL offices. school tickets rise to seven and a half cents each in multi-ticket lots. A ten ride ticket will be introduced for multi-zone routes with a 10 percent Federal excise tax.

Vanderbilt's Fifth Wife Claims Destitution in NYC

Patricia Wallace Vanderbilt, Cornelius Vanderbilt's fifth wife, says she is destitute and penniless and spent the night with the City Welfare Department. In 1953 she filed for relief, then evicted from a hotel last Tuesday for $1,413 unpaid rent. Welfare gave $6.15 for a room for her and her 12-year-old daughter after city shelter was denied.
