Policeman Conte Recovering After Woods Rescue
Bridgeport Police Sgt. Dominic A. Conte is recovering in Brattleboro Memorial Hospital after being rescued from Green Mountain woods in Somerset township where he disappeared on a hunting trip. He was found about three miles from a road, frostbitten feet and head injury from a fallen branch, and had lost weight. His wife Mrs. Fannie A. Conte and his father were at his bedside as doctors considered discharge possible tomorrow. Conte, Patrolman Walter Witt and Anthony Carbone were in the woods when Conte fired at a deer and became separated while returning to the Somer set road.

Boston reports rescue efforts for 30 to 44 crew members of the Langleecrag after it grounded off the Belle Isle Strait Newfoundland.
