CSEA Considers Bridgeport for Fall Convention

The Connecticut State Employes Association considers Bridgeport as the site for its three day fall 1972 convention. James Quinn says the group seeks banquet space for 800 to 1,000 and sleeping facilities for about 600, with Hartford and New Haven having hosted most recent events.

Two Men Arrested In Stratford Ambush Killing

Stratford police report four more arrests in the ambush shooting at the Stratford car wash on Ferry Boulevard. Victims included Gatlin who died. four others injured. The suspects face murder and abetting charges. bonds were discussed by attorney Burton Weinstein. The incident involved 38 caliber and 16 gauge weapons, with ballistic results pending.

Illinois Tax Center trash pile holds millions in returns

A state official said about 4 400 tax returns were found in 17 cartons discarded at the Illinois tax center. The boxes contained no checks for most of the total, but included two corporate income tax payments totaling 90 000 and 680 009. It is unclear when the items were sent to Springfield. The director warned they could have been lost during May renovations.

Six Killings in Charleston: Two Families Die in Separate Shootings

In Charleston West Virginia six people from two families died in nearby shootings described as unrelated. Dr Charles Cottrell and wife were killed in their Fort Hill home while the Eder family perished in the nearby neighborhood, including Robert Eder who shot his wife and two sons then killed himself. No weapons or suspects identified.

Flyers Trade Mickey for Sabres Keenan in NHL Deal

The Philadelphia Flyers traded right wing Larry Mickey to the Buffalo Sabres for left wing Larry Keenan. Flyers recalled Lew Morrison from the Richmond farm club. Morrison, 23, had 12 games with the Robins this season, four goals and five assists. Keenan, with five NHL seasons, had eight goals and 23 assists last season with St. Louis and Buffalo, and two goals this season for Buffalo.
