Samuel Wheeler Dies in Chicago and Funeral Planned
Samuel L. Wheeler, wealthy Fairfield resident and former owner of Hotel Stratfield, died in Chicago after a week long illness. His body will be brought to Fairfield Tuesday and taken to his home for funeral services to be announced. Born in Watertown Connecticut in 1845, Wheeler attended Yale and later partnered with Farrar & Wheeler in Chicago. He married Amelia Vernon Ruby in 1876 and, later that year, Mrs. Wheeler died. he remarried Elizabeth Stheol later.
