Street Widening At State and Water Underway This Week
City Public Works crews begin work tomorrow at the State Street Water Street intersection opposite the Municipal bus terminal and parking garage on the Plaza. They will widen about 100 feet on Water Street and 60 feet on State Street, paving the area to ease entrance and exit at the municipal garage as part of a broader redevelopment plan for off street parking and building demolitions south of the Plaza. The widening is temporary until demolition is completed, with further widening planned after the area is cleared. Police and fire units relocated the traffic light and alarm box, and utilities moved poles and wires. The project is expected to finish within a week amid sidewalk and curb work.
