Tedesco to Become Mayor This Noon

At noon Samuel J. Tedesco will take the oath as mayor of Bridgeport succeeding Jasper McLevy. The ceremony on City Hall steps includes Brannelly Swearing in, attendance by Mayor McLevy and Mayor Richard C. Lee, and a Veterans Day holiday schedule.

Coast Guard Rescues 2 Men and Boy on Sound

Two Stratford men and a six year old boy were rescued after spending more than 14 hours marooned on a sandbar near the Housatonic River mouth. Coast Guard cutters towed their 16 foot cruiser Betty Edith to Stratford marina after a passing plane alerted authorities.

Frederick A. Post Office to occupy Samp Mortar unit in Fairfield

The Post Office department will take possession Saturday of a new Samp Mortar station at 2055 Black Rock Turnpike Fairfield. Edward Flynn said the 20 year lease provides 2100 square feet plus a rear platform and modern equipment including plug in heaters for mail trucks.
