Producer Carroll Cleared by Court in Obscene Posters Case
Carroll, a revue producer, was jailed briefly after police charged him with displaying obscene paintings in the Hart Carroll Theatre. He was acquitted by special sessions judges who dismissed the case on motion of his attorney, while insisting reformers target art rather than creators. Carroll spent four days in custody, chose imprisonment over bail protest, and was released on his brother’s bail last Monday.
