Pequonnock Apartment Fire Claims Two In Boston Family
A fatal apartment fire in Pequonnock killed a woman and her young son. Firefighters broke down a locked door to reach them as a doctor later pronounced both dead at Park City hospital. Det. David Roberts said the mother Maria Ayala was away when the blaze started. The father Santos Ayala and two other children were in New Jersey when notified. Funeral services for both victims are scheduled Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. at local churches with burial in St. Michael's cemetery. The widow Mrs Arroyo leaves four sons including Pedro Pagan of Puerto Rico and three others in Boston. The boy is survived by both parents and two sisters.

They said they were fed, medically cared for, and allowed games and reading, though they listened to Radio Hanoi and received Viet Cong pamphlets. They recalled being treated well but could not explain why they were released and said they were told release dates by Viet Cong interpreters.

Ninth Drug Overdose Victim This Year Identified
State police said Delany died of a heart attack amid an overdose. Investigators found drugs in the possession of Delany's friend Kenneth S. Rosen, 27, of New York City, who was charged with marijuana and controlled substances offenses and jailed on 25,000 bond. Delany led the SEEK program at Queens College and campaigned for racially balanced Nassau schools. He is survived by his widow Eleanor Pizza and six children.
