Westport Man Dies Relatives Sought for Funeral
The Westport selectmen reported the death today of Kartes W. Qelffnichen of Westport and Fairfield in Hillside Home Bridgeport and seek George H. Marsh of Fairfield to decide who pays the funeral expenses. Marsh was not located after a search by Captain John Delan. A conservatorship hearing for Gehmichen was set for November 16 in probate court. The selectmen had arranged care for him since Fairfield authorities described his living conditions as filthy. He owned property previously but deeded it to Marsh, his son in law in Fairfield, who may owe funeral costs. The Red Cross chapter elected Rev. Mackenzie Head to lead for the coming year with new officers and committees named. Various town groups announced upcoming classes in basketry wood finishing and first aid. A missionary barrel for Pleasant Hill Academy was planned and state officials prepared for several travel engagements.
