Bristol obituary notes Mayor John Franklin Wade died at 67 after heart trouble. Wade served three terms and was Bristol’s first mayor after incorporation in 1910. Born in Georgia, he came to Bristol in 1860, rising from laborer to plant superintendent, then works manager before reentry as mayor. Survived by widow and four children. funeral at Bellevue Avenue home with ministers officiating. interment in local family plot.
The 1826 27 Common Council met briefly in its final session with half the members elected anew. A Board of Appraisal report found damages tied to Waldemere avenue and other sewers, and damages for Wayne street extension were ordered paid to several residents. Public hearings on building lines drew no attendees, and Yarrington Court was accepted as a city street along with permits for an air stand and a building project at 1528 Main street.
The Traveler's Insurance Company announced WTIC will relocate its transmitting plant to a suburban location at least ten miles from Hartford. The move aims to double the station's coverage by eliminating the city limits and requiring new buildings and towers.
Rome on November 7 reports the Vatican gave official approval to airplane marriages. Raymond Emerson DeLaney a 26 year old credit agency investigator and former police reporter, was arrested on charges of twelve burglaries in Bridgeport. He confessed to the twelve break ins, saying hunger and poverty drove him to steal to support his wife and baby. Jewelry valued in the thefts was large, but he claimed he received about 500 dollars from pawning items in New Haven and New York. DeLaney faced bond set at 5000 and was to be analyzed in City Court as investigations continued.
In Minneapolis a federal judge ruled the seizure of a $15,000 stock from Cleco Supply legal and ordered release pending a libel action. The ruling undercuts government efforts to bar home brewing materials while continuing criminal and libel prosecutions against Cleco owner Leon Brill.
